Socialisation is vital to the well-being of our dogs, young and old!
Positive interactions with people, other dogs, objects, noises and
sensory experience is critical
Visits to the shops, vets, friends’ house, dog groomers, pet stores and parks are a few examples
of places to visit often. This provides excellent exposure to new experiences.
Remember to keep interactions short and positive.
Getting your dog handled by different people will help your dog feel comfortable around them
Never force your dog, especially at a young age to be handled but instead encourage them to be
handled willingly. Introduce them to as many new experiences as possible,
such as auditory sounds (cars, motorbikes, hoovers, hair dryers) and different textures such as water, hard/soft surfaces and visiting different places.
This will avoid these situations becoming scary at any point in their lives but especially as a puppy.
